"We'll look back and be happy we did this."

Baby Briggs at 2 weeks
We went to the Tri-Cities last weekend for Briggs' baby blessing and decided to have a friend of ours take family photos. Matt was not the most excited about it and I reminded him that "We will look back and be happy that we did this." His reply was, "That's what I keep telling myself." And while we were taking the photos I had to keep reminding myself that too! Liam was being such a stinker. We did a 30 minute mini photo session and I wanted to get as many shots in as possible. Liam on the other hand wanted to climb on the bricks, try to yank out my earrings, jump off things,  point at things in the sky and every other annoying thing I could have thought of.  We brought treats for him (which I think made things worse) and eventually made it through with a few shots where we were all looking. Haley was awesome and so patient with us. And while I am being honest the last thing that I wanted was to document the post baby body that I am not willing to admit is mine. Henry is nearing the 7 month mark and my body has not got the memo that it can shed the weight. I wish I was one of "those" women who can breast feed and have their bodies shrink at a ridiculous rate.  Mom told me that I am in the baby making years and to enjoy it. I would enjoy it more if I was a little bit thinner :)
Photo evidence that I have the cutest family in the world :) And evidence that it was all worth it.

Has is been that long?!?

Keeping this blog updated has obviously not been a priority for a while and that drives me crazy. I have so many memories that i don't want to forget and so many pictures of my two adorable boys.
Henry is now almost 7 months old and so happy and so so so adorable. It breaks my heart that he is getting so big so fast. Liam will be 3 in less than 2 short months and is everything that comes with the age. Sweet, spicy and stubborn. Don't know where he gets that ;) We have been busy with work, church, school, family and all the other things life throws our way. We have had a few opportunities the passed few months to spend some quality time with our families, friends and with our own little family. And I have lots of pictures to prove it.  Kate and I were talking about journaling and keeping our blogs updated not just so people know what we have been up to but so we can look back and see what we were doing with all of our time. She mentioned a friend who blogs every day. I want to do that. Doesn't have to be fancy I just want things to be documented. I have this fear that I am going to look back and wonder where my kids childhoods went and not be able to remember enough of it. I know if I keep this blog up and be as consistent with it as I am with other things I won't have to worry about not remembering. I want to remember the good, the bad and the ugly. I am in no way a writer or good with my words and I think that is partially why I don't journal or blog as much as I would like to. I am afraid I will say something stupid or something that doesn't quite make sense when written. I am putting my worries to the side and just going to journal my life as a mom, wife, daughter, sister, friend. It may be boring some days but this is my life.

Steam Roller

With much persistence Henry is now rolling from front to back and back to front. Stop growing baby! (14 weeks)

2 months

Henry is 2 months old today! How is that possible? I feel like I have been sleeping the past two months and I can hardly remember any of it. When I told this to Matt he said, "Well I can tell you one thing. You definitely haven't been sleeping." Maybe that is why I can't remember anything.
We are surviving though. We have had a great two months with Henry here and are enjoying life as a family of 4. It has been so fun to see Henry change and become more alert. One of the best noises in the world are the little coos that he has been giving us the past 2 weeks or so. He is a very happy baby (as long as I don't eat broccoli or chocolate) and he has really started to like his bouncy seat. He likes to swing his little hands at the dangling toys and kick his little legs. His night time sleeping hasn't been as great but I am hopeful that he will continue to get into a better pattern. He loves to sleep on his stomach and is starting to resist the swaddle. Stresses me out a little...
He still has a great head of hair. I am hoping he follows after his brother and keeps it all.

Father's Day 2011

Happy Father's Day Matt! We are so lucky to have you.
 We love you!

All 3 of my boys are napping. Glorious! I am going to attempt to publish some posts that I have started but not finished. How do moms find time to blog regularly?!

Side note... I am good at starting and not finishing things.

Zoo Zoo Zoo

We decided to take advantage of the first 80 degree day and go to the zoo! Liam LOVES trains so we decided it would be fun for him if we took the max there and back. Which worked out nicely to not have to fight for a parking spot. The weather was great and Liam had a great time. Liam really likes the monkey exhibits and was excited to go in the petting zoo and brush the goats. Henry had no idea what was going on and only messed one outfit with an icky diaper :)

Each time I look at this picture of Liam I see me.

Henry 1 month

Henry has been such a sweet little boy. We love having him in our home. The first month has flown by and I am expecting the upcoming months to do the same. It is so different with the second baby. All I did with Liam was hold him all day long and some days wished he would let me lay him down and get things done. Little Henry seems to get the quick snuggles, kisses, and milk while I am trying to take care and entertain Liam and take care of the house. I would love to have him nap on me all afternoon so I could breathe in his little head more often but some days that just doesn't work out.
Henry has the best head of hair. It is so very soft and so long. He still has all the hair he was born with and then some. And it seems to be getting longer. It is a little darker than Liam's hair was when he was a month old. He has the same fuzzy ears that Liam had. I love it! His eyes are getting lighter and lighter everyday and I am guessing they will be a bright blue like Liam's. It is so hard to not compare the two boys! I often have to remind myself that they are two different people. I am trying to remember that I have two boys and they are going to grow up to be 2 different people and they aren't going to look the same. When I imagine Henry growing up I just picture Liam. It will be so fun to see what he turns out to look like.
It has been so fun to have a cuddly baby in the house again. I am exhausted but don't expect anything less than that. He does decent with his sleeping patterns. Every now and then I'll get a good stretch of sleep out of him (6-7 hours) but it is usually 3. I'll be rested in a year or so...

Me hold baby!

Liam really likes to hold Henry and asked me today if he could home him. I said yes and the following pictures are of what happened next...
Going well. They looked adorable so I grabbed the camera. Although not the best way for Liam to be holding Henry but he insisted.

Liam looks down and seems a little concerned for Henry. He then notices his blanket. He loves to share his blanket with Henry...

Liam decides to grab the blanket. (which means he is only using one arm to hold Henry) Check out the smile on Liam's face! So proud.  Henry is starting to slip...

Big brother so proud that  he is sharing his blanket with "Baby Enry" and  he doesn't have any idea that Henry's face is turning red! And is not enjoying the experience.

Don't worry Henry was not harmed while I was busy taking these pictures. I quickly thanked Liam for holding him and pulled him to safety. We have also had to teach Liam that while he loves to hide from us and play hide n' seek, it's not ok for him to put blankets on Henry's head to hide him. Brotherly love...

One. Day. At. A. Time :)

3 weeks

The past 3 weeks have gone by so quickly! Everything is a blur but we have enjoyed having Henry around. He is a patient little guy who likes to sleep on my chest and loves to have his hands up by his face just like Liam did. He is still doing well with his sleeping habits. Of course I would love to be sleeping through the night but I'm ok with only having to get up twice. He is starting to like bath time and is starting to spend more of the daytime hours awake. He has a great full head of fuzzy hair that we love to play with. Although it doesn't stay soft and fuzzy for long once we start running our fingers through it. Liam likes having his brother around but gets upset with me when I have feed him, change him, etc. He loves to give him kisses and high fives.
